So, Thomas Gibson d. 1652 did NOT marry Elizabeth Booth dau of Robert. His giving her the land and heifer is unexplained. However, a Thomas Gibson had several illegitimate children to take care of prior to 1700's, as per parish records for New Kent County (1695/6 and 1696) Perhaps this explains why he gave land to Elizabeth Booth. Were they his children or was he just providing for their welfare? The probability is that they were his children out of wedlock.
