It is with a sad and broken heart, that I will try by the help of the Lord to write an obituary of my dear husband and companion, Canton Combs. He was born Jan. 23, 1905, and departed this life March 17, 1972, making his stay on earth 67 years, 1 month and 25 days. He was the youngest son of the late K.F. and Nancy Gibson Combs. Canton and I had four children, 2 boys and 2 girls. They are: Herman of Raven, Ky., Clinas of Warsaw, Ind., Bertha Ousley of Sidney, Ind. and Beth Stevens of Warsaw, Indiana. Canton always gave our children good counsel. I can say that I never did hear him tell them anything that was wrong. I believe with all my heart that he is resting around the throne of God, and in that great morning when God calls for his children that he will be in that number. About 8 months before he passed away, while talking to his brother Mont and sister-in-law, Luna Combs, he told them at that time if he died he be1ieved that there was nothing in his way. Three days before he died while in the McDowell hospital he was talking with our son Herman. He asked Herman if he saw the two Angels on the roof top of the hospital. Oh, how lonely it is in the old home without him. I want to say to all of the children and to the rest of the family, if you want to see Daddy again you must turn to God and ask Him for forgiveness before it is too late.
