• Will, 1 Jul 1796, Jefferson County, TN. Whereas I Wm Thornbrugh of the County of Jeffison in the State of Tenecy being in perfect health and sound memory, thanks be to the Lord, caling to mind the mortality of my body; the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, hear do ordain the following lines as my last will and testament that is to say principally and last of all I commend my soul unto the Lord who gave it me and my body unto the earth to be buried in a christian like manner at the discretion of my executors and friends, and as touching such worldly substance with which the Lord hath been plased to bless me with I order dispose and bequeath thereof in the following manner and form, and first it is my will and I desire that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid. And first I leave and bequeath to my loving son Abel Thornbrugh one hundred and twelve acres of land and my well beloved son Abel Thornbrugh is to have and to hold the said land with all my goods, which I make constitute and opint the soul heir of this my last will and testament. Furthermore, I order and constitute appoint and allow my trusty friends Thomas Thornbrugh and William Morgan to be the whole and soul Executors of this my last will and testament revoking disallowing all other wills and testaments heretofore made by me confirming this to be the my last will and testament. In witness hereof I have set my hand and seal this first day of the seventh month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.
