On September 1, 1732, an agreement was made between Abraham Brouwer, miller, and Elizabeth Brittaine, widow of Nathaniel, late of Staten Island, wherin it was set forth that they intended to marry, and it was agreed that Brouwer should pay her 200 pounds per year so long as she remained his widow, which should be in lieu of dower. "If she should marry again this allowance is revoked."

This document was recorded April 16, 1739. The fact this marriage took place is shown by a deed made by Abraham Brouwer and Elizabeth, his wife to Peter Hagewout dated May 1, 1734.
