SHILOH/ASHLAND: Betty May (Seaman) Daup, age 84, formerly of the Shiloh and Ashland area, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Kingston of Ashland.
She was born July 13, 1926 in Shiloh the daughter of Marion and Eva (Domer) Seaman, and graduated from Shiloh High School in 1944. Betty attended Capital University graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1948. She taught school in the Shiloh and Plymouth school systems and retired from Shelby City Schools in 1985. While teaching in the Shelby City School system, she received the Martha Holden Jennings award as teacher of the year.
Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending their various activities. She was a loyal Cleveland Indians fan and attended many of their games, as well as, several spring training seasons. She enjoyed travelling and attending musicals. As a member of the First Methodist Church, on the square in Mansfield, she served on various committees.
Betty is survived by her husband, of 64 years, Harold, whom she married on November 14, 1946 in Plymouth; their children: Barbara Ruckman of Ontario; Jon and Debbie Daup of Powell; Jacque and Patti Daup of Ashland, and Cynthia and Roy Pullum of Medina; 8 grandchildren: Laura Ruckman, Amber (Ruckman) Skelton, Jeff Daup, Shelly (Daup) Main, Tiffany and Tiana Daup, Nathan Pullum, Katie (Pullum) Nguyen; 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wallace and Doris Harnly, Ellsworth and Kathleen Daup; 2 nephews James and Douglas Daup; and a niece: Wallis Ann Harnly Gillam.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to: First United Methodist Church, 12 North Diamond St., in Mansfield; or The Harold & Betty Daup Family Scholarship at Crestview Schools, Crestview Foundation; or The Harold & Betty Daup Family Scholarship at Plymouth-Shiloh Schools, The Viking Scholarship Fund, in care of each school.
