UNABLE TO PAY BILLS INCURRED BY WIFE'S ILLNESS AND DEATH
One of the common but discouraging tragedies of real life was told, almost without words, in a petition filed in the United States district court yesterday.
John W. Leicy, a laborer, of Mansfield, filed a petition in voluntary bankruptcy. His liabilities were stated to be $240 and he assets $50. It was one of the smallest petitions, in point of liabilities and assets, ever filed in the court, but it was the schedule of liabilities that blankly told the story. Items enumerated were doctor's bills, $78; drug bill, $32; "to balance on wife's burial," $20. There were other smaller items, but these told the story.
John married Minerva A. FEIGHNER about 1895. (Minerva A. FEIGHNER was born in Jan 1872 in OH and died between 1900 and 1903.)
