In the name of God, Amen: I, Thomas Gibson of Onslow County in the State of North Carolina, being of sound mind & memory do make this my last will and testament as follows: In the first place, I give up my soul to God & my body to be buried in a decent manner & for all my just debts to be paid out of my estate. Secondly I lend to my loving wife Bidda Gibson the use & benefit of my plantation whereon I now live with all the stock thereon consisting of horses, cattle, hogs & CC., also all of my plantation tools & household furniture so long as she shall remain my widow. ITEM: I give to my son Elijah Gibson one cow & calf and the money that I have paid him and is to pay for his part of my land which is the sum of one hundred pounds which I think the full worth of his share of my estate. ITEM: I give & devise to my son Tom Gibson the plantation where on he now lives & one half of my piney land lying on the lowest side of Bare Branch & Lorrel Branch, called the Horse Pen Neck, to him, his heirs and assigns forever and one yoke of steer that he has in possession. ITEM: I give and devise to my son John Gibson a piece or parcel of land joining of Joshuway's land laid off by a division of marked trees, also all the piney land I have above the Jumpin Run Branch on the northwest side of Bear Branch, to him, his heirs and assigns forever & one cow and calf by the name of Cheera, to her and CC. ITEM: I give and devise to my son Joshuway Gibson a piece or parcel of land bordering on a division of marked trees betwixt he & John Gibson on the north side of Bear Branch to the Jumping Run Branch & one yoake of steers that he has in possession to him, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and devise to my son David Gibson a plantation lying betwixt Tomy & John Gibson lands on the north side of Bear Branch & also the other half of Horse Pen Neck, joining of Tomy's half to him, his heirs & assigns forever, also one mare by the name of Bird, but her increase for the good of the younger children. ITEM: I give & devise to my son Samuel Gibson a piece or parcel of land lying on the south side of Bare Branch joining of Tomy Gibson's land & the plantation whereon I now live, laid off by marked trees & one small colt by the name of Nick, also my musket (musket) to him, his heirs & assigns forever. ITEM: I give & devise to my son Solomon Gibson the house & plantation whereon I now live, the small room and one fireplace is excepted for my three youngest daughters as long as they live single and them for him, his heirs and assigns forever, also, I give him my small shotgun. ITEM: I give & devise to my daughter Polly Barber my riding Sulcy after my wife's death, also my will is that the household furniture and all of the cattle that haven't exposed of o be equally betwixt my three youngest daughters Rachel, Narcessa & Dovy Gibson. Also, I want all of my tools to be equally divided betwixt four of my sons, Joshuway, David, Samuel & Soloman Gibson. The carpenters, coopers, & shewmakers tools to be divided equally at my death & the plantation tools at my wife's death are also to be divided. Also I give my big chest and all of my doctor's books and means to my son Soloman Gibson. Also, I leave plantation on Trent to be rented out and the money to be put to the use of schooling and raising of my small children. Lastly, revoking all former will, I constitute and appoint my two sons Tomy & Joshuway Gibson my executors to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning thereof in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this the seventeenth day of March Eighteen Hundred & Three.
