Marvin Wade Gibson, age 76, of Wayland, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the East Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, KY. He was born January 30, 1933, in Wayland, KY; the son of the late Eite and Lula Jacobs Gibson.
He was a retired surveyor for KY & WVA Gas Company. He served in the US Army and US Air Force in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the US Air Force in 1974 after serving 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Avalon Thornsbury Gibson, along with one brother, Carl Gibson, and three sisters, Mildred Gibson, Judy Gibson and Nancy Gregory.
Surviving are: two sons, Stanley Gibson (Judy) of Burgin, KY, and Marty Gibson of Wayland, KY; three daughters, Susan Fairchild (Billy) of Staffordsville, KY, Elizabeth Carlin (Kevin) and Millie Lou Gibson (James Chandler) both of Georgetown, KY; two brothers, Ronnie and Richard Gibson both of Wayland, KY; two sisters, Phyllis Gibson of Wayland, KY, and Mary Lou Keller of Interlachen, NY; 7 grandchildren, Amber Fairchild, Nic, Sean and Samantha Gibson, Grace Carlin, Ava Jeanne Chandler, and Stacey Davies; and 1 great grandchild, Kaitlyn Davies.
Funeral Services: Friday, January 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hall Funeral Home with Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial in Joe Hall Cemetery at Topmost, KY, under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home of Martin, KY. Visitation is after 5:00 PM, Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Hall Funeral Home.
