No record has been found of their marriage but his mother's name is listed in George W. Ballard's application for enrollment in the Cherokee Nation as Elizabeth Ballard. Elizabeth is also listed in the 1850 census. Based on the age of their oldest child, it is assumed they married about 1834 probably in Alabama but perhaps Tennessee. Their children are named in census records as well as the probate of George B. Ballard's estate.
