Sarah McClellan and her second husband, John Wilson, lived on a farm located in the northeast part of Cane Hill, just east of the Cold Spring on the road to the New Home (Greasy Valley) community. Samuel Getty McClellan later lowned and farmed this land. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Matthews built on this farm about 1936 and have since made it their home. It is believed that John Wilson and White McClellan might have been in business together in 1840, as the Jan. 1957 issues of FALSHBACK page 5, shows in the business receipts of James Henry, one dated Dec. 23, 1840 for $5.63 - McClellan and Wilson pr. Stone. The clerk who signed this receip was Stephen K. Stone who was then 15 years old and this was his first job after his arrival in 1839. He later became the town's wealtiest citizen. John married Sarah (possibly Gibson). (Sarah (possibly Gibson) was born ca. 1800 in KY and died betw 1834 and 1854.) John next married Sarah Walker McCLELLAN, daughter of Col. John McCLELLAN and Mary "Polly" WALLACE, betw May 1836 and 1854. (Sarah Walker McCLELLAN was born on 4 Dec 1806 in TN and died on 6 Jan 1860 in Washington County, AR.) |
