MRS. KAREN HATLELI Mrs. Karen Hatleli, former resident of Lanesboro, and for the last 30 years of Albert Lea, was born at Flesvik, Sogn, Norway, on December 22, 1851. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Eilef Hoium. While in Norway she was united in marriage to Ole N. Hatleli, who died in October 1922, and who for years was Lanesboro's tailor. Mr. Hatleli came with his wife and five children from Norway to Lanesboro 66 years ago, but moved to Albert Lea several years ago to be nearer to several of their children. Mrs. Hatleli has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter O. Bothun.
In site of her advanced age, she enjoyed good health up to very last doing fancy work for gifts to relatives and friends. Her mother, the late Mrs. Brita Hoium, died in Lanesboro in the year 1926, at the age of 101 years. Mrs. Hatleli, was preceded in death by one son, John, who died two years ago in a truck accident in Minneapolis.
She leaves the following eight children, 3 sons and 5 daughters, Lars H. of Duluth; Eilef of Lanesboro; Christ H. of Rushford; Sina, Mrs. Peter Bothun, Albert Lea; Carrie, Mrs. Theodor Nesja, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Brita, Mrs. Henry Inderlie of Manchester; Caroline, Mrs. Christ Jordahl, Henrika, Mrs. Carl Stolaas, Albert Lea. She also leaves 52 grandchildren and 100 great grandchildren besides other relatives. On a late photo there were five generations represented. Her death last Thursday, June 24, came peacefully. She had lived as a devout Christian and leaves as an inheritance to her children and grandchildren the example the influence and pleasant memories of her life as one who kept close to God.
The last rites were held at Bethlehem Lutheran church at Lanesboro on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by her former pastor, P. J. Nestande. She was laid to rest in the family lot in the Lanesboro cemetery
