Ruby L. Abramson, 97, of Prairie Farm died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm.
She was born Sept. 19, 1910, to Ory and Ella (Rierson) Reed at Radcliffe, Iowa, where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1929, and then entered normal school. Upon her graduation, she taught school for a time. On June 20, 1929, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Abramson at Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple moved to Waukesha for a time before settling in Prairie Farm in 1944. Ruby worked for Jerome Foods in Barron and later worked as a nurse's aid at Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and playing the piano. She had a sparkling personality and always a positive outlook on life. She also had a great love for family and such a caring way about her. Ruby will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd, on Sept. 22, 1996; grandchildren, Diane Smith and Joe Connelly; great-grandchildren, Joshua Barfknecht and Sarah Smith; brother, Russell Reed; and sisters, Hazel Gilhouse, Marjory Wiese and Elsie Nehring.
She is survived by her sons, David (Marilyn) Abramson of Woodbury, Minn., and Ken (Ruth) Abramson of Arkansaw; daughters, Rose (Jim) Crawford of Eau Claire, Norma Busser (Charles McIntyre) of Middleton and Dixie (Marvin) Kriebel of Afton, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Laureen Spitler of Webster City, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm, with the Rev. Kenneth Kuziej officiating. Interment will be in Vanceburg Cemetery in the town of Sheridan, Dunn County.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday, June 12) at Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas and one hour before the service Friday at the church.
Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas and Cameron.
