Services were held at 1:30 p.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe, with burial in Radcliffe Cemetery.
Ruth Kathryn Reed was born April 2, 1920, in Bode to Omer and Borghild (Knudslien) Amundson. She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1939. She married Russell Reed June 24, 1939, in Radcliffe. They farmed eight miles northwest of Radcliffe in Hamilton County, Rose Grove Township. They moved to Prairie Farm, Wis., in 1942, where they operated a dairy farm, moving back to Radcliffe in 1945. In 1971 they moved to Webster City where they owned and operated the Mid-Town Motel and Apartments for 30 years. She and her husband semi-retired in Radcliffe in 1989. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and active in the U.M.W. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Garden Club and Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Kathryn Cobeen of Clear Lake, Diane Schwartz of Hubbard and Cynthia Mathein of Webster City; one son, Kevin Reed of Webster City; six grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Abbas of Iowa Falls and LaVonne Johnson of Webster City; and three brothers, Donald Amundson of Napa, Idaho, Herb Amundson of Newark, Del., and Roger Amundson of Webster City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter; a sister and three brothers.
Ruth married Russell Dean REED, son of Ory Clyde REED and Ella Lenora RIERSON, on 24 Jun 1939 in Hardin County, Iowa, USA. (Russell Dean REED was born on 10 Sep 1917 in Minnesota, USA and died on 19 Jan 2003 in Hamilton County, Iowa, USA 2.) The cause of his death was cancer.
