Daniel Mark HELLERUD

• Obituary: InForum (Fargo-Moorehead), 2010, North Dakota, USA. God took his hand and said "Come to my kingdom." Daniel Mark Hellerud went to that kingdom on March 20, 2010. He was born on August 20, 1953 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Halstad Lutheran Church. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Jackie, on November 24, 1973. Dan loved the earth, farming with his family for 19 years. He continued that love with his gardening and helping his children with their gardens. Dan worked at the United States Postal Service for 25 years serving as the Postmaster in Karlstad and surrounding communities. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church and the Karlstad Lions Club. Music flowed all through his life. Dan was a clarinetist in high school and UND. Dan graduated from UND in 1973 with a degree in music. He directed vocal choirs at Halstad Lutheran Church and Karlstad First Lutheran Church along with many community cantatas and events.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife Jackie; children Johathan (Stacey), Jason (Chris), Joel, the most wonderful grandchildren Kyle, McKenna, Emma, and Ethan; parents John and Mary Hellerud of Moorhead; brothers David and Phillip (Bambi); sister Joan (Steve); many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ted and Linda Hellerud, Carl Opshal, Peter and Olina Onstad; father and mother-in-law Jack and Marian Beach; sister-in-law Carloyn Sharbono.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad.
