ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Alpha R. Hellerud will be at noon Tuesday at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Wayne Vogt officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Mrs. Hellerud, of Rochester, formerly of Mabel, died Friday (Jan. 19, 2007) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Alpha Rosella Treangen was born Jan. 31, 1918 in Choice, Minn. and grew up in the Mabel area. She married Gerhard Hellerud on Feb. 23, 1935 in Mabel. They farmed in the Mabel area until moving to Rochester in 1948. She worked as a housekeeper for many doctors in Rochester. She enjoyed cooking, bingo, casinos and shopping.
Survivors include three sons, Rochester of Clermont, Fla., Gordon (Marilyn) and David (Sara), both of Rochester; three daughters, Shirley Nelson of Rochester, Sandra Engelking and Gloria, both of Victoria, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.
