Richard J. Aarvig, 91 of Pontiac, IL, died on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 7:40 am at the ASTA Care Center of Pontiac.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Paul Cemetery in Odell. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Memorials in Richard's name may be left to St. Mary's School in Pontiac.
Richard was born on April 16, 1922 in Pontiac, IL a son of Bernard and Rosalia (Campbell) Aarvig. He is survived by one sister: Patricia Casson of Pontiac, IL; four nieces and nephews: Bill (Maura) Casson, Jane (John) Allen, John (Andrea) Casson and Paul (Avis) Casson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step brother: Spencer Watterson and one nephew: Charles Casson.
He served our country in the United States Army Air Force as a Bombardier. He had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
