PONTIAC - The Funeral Of David R. Rapp

PONTIAC - The Funeral Of David R. Rapp, 62, of rural Pontiac, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rowe, the Rev. Mark Juliot officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac. He died at 5:05 p.m. Monday (March 10, 1997) at his home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; two daughters, Kris Lambert and Julie Mehlberg, both of Pontiac; and one son, Steven Rapp, Pontiac.

Also surviving are one daughter-in-law, Jill Rapp; two sons-in-law, Sam Lambert Jr. and John Mehlberg; and seven grandchildren, Becky, Jill and John Lambert; Kristen and Betsy Mehlberg; and Joel and Melissa Rapp.

Mr. Rapp was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Pontiac, the son of Ronald and Harriett Ryerson Rapp. He married Jeanne Baughman Sept. 12, 1954, in Pontiac.

His parents preceded him in death.

He was educated in Pontiac schools and graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1952. He farmed his entire life in rural Pontiac. He served with the Illinois National Guard.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Mr. Rapp also served as president of the church council and was active in leadership at St. Paul Lutheran Church throughout his life. He also served on Synodical Board Of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the board of directors of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.

He enjoyed traveling abroad and throughout the United States. For 20 years, he was known to his family as the Saturday morning "Donie Man."
