• Obituary: Pantagraph, Bloomington, 1996, Livingston County, Illinois, USA. Saturday, November 2, 1996 GRAYMONT - The Funeral For Claire A. Ryerson, 80, of Graymont will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Duffy Funeral Home, Pontiac, the Rev. Robert Gilles officiating. Burial will be in Rooks Creek Cemetery, rural Pontiac, with military rites by Flanagan Legion Post. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Ryerson died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 31, 1996) at the family farm in Rooks Creek Township. Memorials may be made to Flanagan Graymont Ambulance Service.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Ryerson, Graymont; four daughters, Mary C. Mester, Bloomington; Jean A. Hubbard, El Paso; and Amy M. Ryerson and Sue E. Sterr, both of Normal; four sons, Glen D. Ryerson, Assumption; Lee T. Ryerson, Graymont; Carl E. Ryerson, Pontiac; and Ray F. Ryerson, Newman; two sisters, Mary Reiners, Chenoa, and Christine Folkers, Flanagan; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
He was born Aug. 27, 1916, in Rooks Creek Township, a daughter of Adolph R. and Mayme Brinkman Ryerson. He married Frances M. Bradshaw, Jan. 20, 1954, in Pontiac.
Mr. Ryerson farmed the home farm in Rooks Creek Township and was Rooks Creek Township Road Commissioner for 32 years from 1961-93.
He was educated in rural Grant Grade School and graduated from Pontiac Township High School.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Force in World War II and was a member of the Flanagan American Legion Post 0456.
He also was a member of the Livingston County Country Couples and the Highway Commissioners Township Association.
