Born Feb. 9, 1930, in Morris, he was the oldest child of three born to Cornelius and Gladys (Joneson) Clausen. Clarion was very proud of his Norwegian decent. He married Louise H. Kuhn on Sept. 4, 1954, in Wheaton.
Clarion was a 1948 graduate of the Sandwich High School. He farmed in the Sandwich and DeKalb County area for more than 44 years. He was a 42-year member of Sycamore Lions Club, past director of DeKalb County Farm Bureau, member of Sycamore Farmers Club, Pork Producers and Sycamore Elks Lodge. He was recognized for his benevolent work and received awards from the Lions of Illinois Foundation for his ongoing work of helping others in need and with the Illinois Association of FFA Honorary State degree.
The family extends a special thank-you to the doctors, nurses, medical staff and dear friends who supported Clarion and his family through the years.
Clarion is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise; four sons, Gary (Jan), Robert (Janet), Thomas and Jeffrey (Anna); six grandchildren, Rebecca, Michael, Diana, Justin, Chase and Jared; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Amanda; step-granddaughter, Valerie McCoy; brother, Milford (Betty) Clausen; sister, Lois (Walt) Elliott; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at the Church of St. Mary, 244 Waterman St. in Sycamore. Memorial visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at the local family-owned and -operated Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore.
