• Notes. Johan Ludvig Larson or, in Norway, Ludvig Johan Larsen. He was confirmed as Ludvig Johan.
In Norway John was known as Ludvig Johan Larsen Tyskerud. When John's father died in 1846, John's mother remarried to the widower Mikal Olsen Tyskerud. John and his mother moved to Tyskerud so that is the connection to Tyskerud. Berte Marie and Mikal had no children. The Tyskerud farm is located about 5 miles southwest of Eidsvoll. Eidsvoll is about 35 miles north of Oslo. John's mother, Berte Marie, died on 10 Oct. 1860. John had no siblings and both parents had died so the next year he came to America on the ship Garibaldi. The Garibaldi left Oslo on May 3, 1861 and arrived in Quebec, Canada on June 20, 1861.

Ludvig Johan Larson was confirmed on 5 Oct. 1851. He is not mention in the Eidsvoll Bygds Historie books but is mentioned on a military census for his father. His birthday was one day off from our records. In America he was known as John.
