• Obituary: Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, 2005, Iowa, USA. STEAMBOAT ROCK - Ralph H. Reed, 86, of Steamboat Rock, died Tuesday, July 12, at the Presbyterian Village, Ackley, of natural causes.
He was born June 2, 1919, on the home place in rural Radcliffe, Hamilton County, son of Earl Henry and May Josephine Rierson Reed. On Feb. 22, 1939, he married Arlene Thompson at the Lutheran Church Parsonage, Radcliffe.
Mr. Reed graduated from high school in Radcliffe in 1937. He farmed for many years, first in rural Radcliffe, then in rural Steamboat Rock. He had worked at the ASCS Office, Iowa Falls, for some time and also sold Mormon Feed and Dekalb Seed Corn. He hauled seed corn for Northrup King for many years; worked for Rooks Implement, Eldora, as a parts man; worked for Kens Repair, Ackley, for several years; and was a meter reader for REC for many years.
Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Kenneth (Linda) of Ackley, Leslie (Renee) of Galt, Mo., and Douglas (Treva) of Spanish Fork, Utah; two daughters, Pamela (Edwin) Berends of Conrad and Denise (Ed) Matlage of Des Moines; a daughter-in-law, June Reed of Urbandale; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Frette of Webster City and Lois (Gene) Reisetter of Ames.
Preceded in death by: a son, Roger; and an infant brother, Ray.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Eldora, with burial at 1:45 p.m. in Radcliffe Cemetery, Radcliffe. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Creps-Abels Funeral Home, Eldora, with family present.
