Lois Wolstad, 90, of La Crosse
Lois I. Wolstad, 90, of La Crosse, Wis., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse.
She was born March 30, 1922, in Mabel to Casper and Hilda (Baarsgaard) Haagenson.
On Feb. 14, 1959, Lois married Reuben Wolstad in Winona, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1981.
Lois was employed at the La Crosse Auto-Lite until its closing. She then took a position at Doerflinger's Department Store in downtown La Crosse where she worked in the jewelry department. From there, Lois moved to the clothing and lingerie department and later became a buyer for the lingerie department.
Flying to New York City was not something Lois liked to do, however, she enjoyed seeing all the new fashions for the up-coming year.
After Doerflinger's went out of business, Lois began employment with Herberger's Department Store in La Crosse where she worked in the lingerie department until her retirement in 1999.
Lois was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse where she enjoyed taking part in the women's quilting group. She also enjoyed spending time flower and vegetable gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Haagenson of Sylmar, Calif.; a stepson, Dwayne (Mavis) Wolstad of West Salem, Wis.; two step-grandchildren, Steven (Ann) Wolstad of West Salem and Natalie (Paul) Geyer of Onalaska, Wis.; and a sister-in-law, Donna Haagenson of Chatfield.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Roger Wolstad; and two brothers, Odell and LeRoy Haagenson.
Also, her older sister, Susan Mathews of Minot, N.D., died one day after Lois on Dec. 12, 2012.
Funeral services were Dec. 17 at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Woodruff Chapel in La Crosse. Rev. Meredith McGrath officiated. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Grove. Online condolences may be left at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
