Clifford Stanley LARSON
Cause of his death was metastatic carcinoma of the prostrate. Noted events in his life were: • Residence: boyhood, 1904, Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA. The house that Clifford grew up in originally belonged to Ole Richardson, then to Oliver Larson (who married one of Ole's daughters), then Harley Larson (Oliver's oldest son), then possibly Lester Larson (another of Oliver's sons), and then Myron Larson (also a son of Oliver). Myron had the present [2006] house and barn built and passed it down to his son Myron "Mike" Larson. • Occupation: Storekeeper and farmer. In the 1930's, he was also a machinist and worked at "the gauge" (Electro Automotive) in LaCrosse, WI. Ione worked there also and at the Doerflinger's Department Store. • Census: La Crosse, District 21, 1930, La Crosse County, Wisconsin, USA. line 98 • Residence: The Nordgaard Farm, 1945, Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA. Leonard Nordgaard was the earliest person we know of that lived on the Nordgaard Farm that Clifford and Ione Larson eventually bought. Leonard was a bachelor. The house was built likely around 1917 or 1918. The stone work was done by Peter Sand. Clifford married Gladys Ione EIKEN, daughter of Gerhard Tollefson EIKEN and Ida Malinda NORDGAARD, on 26 Aug 1929 in Houston County, Minnesota, USA.1 (Gladys Ione EIKEN was born on 15 Sep 1909 in Choice, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA and died on 19 Feb 1988 in Caledonia, Houston County, Minnesota, USA 3.) The cause of her death was Congestive Heart Failure (days). Noted events in their marriage were: • Notes: love letters, Bef 1929, Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA. Cy [Carroll LARSON] said that Clifford & Ione would send "love" letters to each other. One time Ione had a note for Clifford that she had Cy deliver "And she watched me all the way to the Larson farm". It was written in some kind of code. As far as I know, neither one knew shorthand. Maybe it was Pig Latin? Also they had a "mail box" on top of a big rock across the river. I think I can still find the right rock. |
