Gordon Borstad, 89, Detroit Lakes, Minn., died Tuesday in St. Mary's Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes.

Mr. Borstad, known as "Boney," was born Sept., 20, 1913, in Blabon, N.D. The family moved to Detroit Lakes, where he grew up and attended school. He also attended the University of Minnesota. He managed the Detroit Lakes City Band and played with the El Zagel Shrine Band. On June 4, 1937, he married Gwen Dahl in Detroit Lakes. They owned and operated the Graystone Garage in Detroit Lakes until the 1960s. He later worked for the city of Detroit Lakes as a meter man and for Schultz Bus Co. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by three sons, Clark (Carmen), Hans (Suzanne), Eric (Janis); a brother, Bruce, Del Rio, Texas; a sister, Gladys Clark, Silverton, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial gathering: Friday from 10 to 11 in West Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Memorial service: Friday at 11 in the funeral home.
Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
