MABEL, Minn. - Theresa E. Vigeland, 97, of Mabel,died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Theresa was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Norway Township, Fillmore County, Minn., to John and O'lena Overland. She was baptized at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, Minn., and was confirmed at South Fork. She attended the South Fork School.
On March 17, 1928, she married Alvin Vigeland at Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel. They farmed on "Irish Ridge" in Preble Township, Fillmore County, until 1966, when they moved to Maple Lake near Alexandria, Minn. In 1974, they returned to Mabel. Alvin passed away Nov. 2, 1992.
Theresa has resided at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel since March 2000. She was a member of Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel, Naomi Circle, and WELCA, and enjoyed gardening, singing and baking.
Theresa is survived by two sons, Arlyn (Phyllis) of Mabel and Dean (Carol) of Rochester; three grandchildren, Kari Carter of Hayfield, Minn., Kathy Mallwitz of Hastings, Minn., and Erik of Blooming Prairie, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; four brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel, with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.

Theresa E. Vigeland, 97, of Mabel, died Feb. 27, 2006 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Theresa Overland was born February 22, 1909 in Norway Township, Fillmore County, to John and O?lena Overland. She attended the South Fork School. On March 17, 1928, she married Alvin Vigeland at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel.
