WILLMAR - Charles J. Turek, 93, of Willmar, died Wednesday at Rice Care Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar with the Rev. Barbara Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home of Willmar.

He was born July 12, 1906, in Montgomery, to Jacob and Antonette (David) Turek. He was a 1924 graduate of Montgomery High School. He was employed by area farms, the local flour mill, St. Paul Post Office and St. Paul Anchor Hospital (now St. Paul Ramsey) in the purchasing department.

On Aug. 7, 1939, he married Clara Rierson in St. Paul. They moved to Atwater in 1942 and owned Clara and Charly's Cafe. He served in the United States Navy, receiving six bronze stars. He was employed by Minor-Rodelius Ford of Willmar and General Trading. In 1961, he became co-owner of Cleary, Dudgeon and Turek, CD& T Auto Parts. He sold his portion of the business in 1971. He entered Rice Care Center in December 1999.

He was a member of Willmar American Legion Post 167, Willmar VFW Post 1639, Disabled American Veterans, and Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.

He is survived by his daughter Charlene (and Darrel) Adams of Willmar; one grandson; sister Adeline McDavitt of Glenndale, Calif.; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 11, 1995, parents, four brothers and one sister.

Charles married Clara Almira RIERSON, daughter of Richard RIERSON and Bertha RASMUSSEN, on 7 Aug 1939 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, USA. (Clara Almira RIERSON was born on 23 May 1906 in Milford, Story County, Iowa, USA and died on 11 Jan 1995 in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, USA ¹.)
