• Obituary: Red Bluff Daily News, 2007, Tehama County, California, USA. 04/28/2007 Francis C. "Bob" Peterson passed away in Red Bluff Wednesday, April 25th at the age of 90.
He was born June 19, 1916 in Everett, WA to father Francis C. and mother Claire Apker Peterson. He was the eldest of three siblings; his surviving sister Marj Peterson Hill and his deceased younger brother Don Peterson. When the 1929 economic crash hit, Bob's family relocated to California where they began a new life in the Bay Area. During WWII he worked building ships for the Navy, going from laborer to head foreman responsible for the entire shipyard production. After the war, he went from ship building to a career in welding in the bay area and also worked with his father to develop a gold mining business that continued until his fathers death. Bob also worked for PG&E and retired from their Electrical Engineering Dept. after 25 years. He was a devoted 50 year member of the Masons, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Red Bluff. In 1942 Bob and Vilma Salin were married and had a wonderful 54 year life together until she died in 1996.
Their daughter Janet passed away in 1991, and Shirley is his only remaining child.
Graveside services will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Tuesday May 1st at 11 am with Pastor Ken Swanson officiating.
