PONTIAC - Catherine E. Ryerson, 79, of Pontiac died at 6:35 a.m. Thursday (April 1, 1999) at OSF Saint James Hospital, Pontiac.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, the Rev. William H. Beswick officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Salvation Army.
She was born Sept. 3, 1919, at Pontiac, a daughter of Frederick John and Iva Matilda Wade Shepherd. She married Gerald L. Ryerson on Aug. 7, 1949, at Pontiac. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Frank (Thomasinne) Bockman, Sterling; and Thomas (Debbie) Ryerson, Pontiac; and two sisters, Iva Pillsbury, Pontiac; and Thelma McWhorter, Richton Park.
Other survivors include four grandchildren, Edward and Catherine Bockman; and Adam and Breigh Ryerson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marther Myer; Alice Wilson; and Helen Gingrich; and one brother, Edward Shephard.
She was a 1938 graduate of Pontiac Township High School.
Mrs. Ryerson was a homemaker, wife and mother. She had also worked for 10 years at the former Duffy Grocery in Pontiac.
She had worked with the Ladd School PTA, and she had served as an election judge in the second ward of Pontiac.
Mrs. Ryerson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac, and the church's Circle I and the Setrucha Class.
