KNICKERBOCKER,
ELDEN TED - Age 62, passed away early Sunday morning at Allegiance Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Ted was born in 1949 in Jackson, Michigan to Eldon and Shirley Knickerbocker, who survives. He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in 1967 and received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Michigan State Unviersity. On December 27, 1972 he married the love of his life, J. Antoinette (Toni) Bommarito. Ted taught chemistry and Physics at Albion High School for 39 years. He enjoyed nurturing and watching his students reach their fullest potential. He also coached the boy's summer ball team, boys and girls tennis and summer tennis instruction for the Recreation Department. He was an active member of the Albion Education Association, Michigan Education Association and the National Educational Association. He served his local Association by negotiating contracts for the teachers for many years. A loving husband, father, son and brother, Ted will be remembered for his love of family, Michigan State sports, working in his garden, watching TV with his dog, Katie, country music and helping family and friends with whatever needed to be done. Ted is survived by wife, Toni Knickerbocker; son, Ryan S. (Lisa Peterson) Knickerbocker of Chicago, IL; daughter, Lisa M. Knickerbocker of Chicago, IL; brothers, Daniel Knickerbocker of Pennsylvania, James (Barbara) Knickerbocker of Japan, Randy (RoseAnna) Knickerbocker of Illinois; sisters, Peggy Knickerbocker of Eaton Rapids, Kathy Meoak of Eaton Rapids; sister-in-law, Mary Campa of Albion; brother-in-law, Jess (Veronica) Bommarito of Pennsylvania; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael. According to Ted's wishes, he will be cremated and a private family gathering will be held at his home. Friends who wish, may make a memorial contribution to Ted's suggested organizations, the and the Albion High School Scholarship Fund is available at the J.
