Bynum DOWNING Jr.

• Obituary: Aberdeen American News (SD), 2002, South Dakota, USA. Ridgeview --- Bynum F. Downing Jr., 75, of Ridgeview died of natural causes on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.

At his request, there will be no funeral service, and a private family service will be held in the spring.

Bynum F. Downing was born Sept. 18, 1927, to Bynum F. and Phoebe Ursula (Claymore) Downing in Sturgis. He grew up on the family ranch near Ridgeview.

He married Doris Jean Larson on June 19, 1948, in Eagle Butte. They made their home in Eagle Butte and also on the ranch west of Ridgeview.

He loved and lived a cowboy's life. He had a deep dedication to the wide-open prairie.

Survivors include three daughters, Dixie (Larry) Byrd of Presho, and Cindy Peterson and Diane Marshall, both of Eagle Butte; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Oahe Manor, 700 E. Garfield, Gettysburg, SD 57442.

Bynum married Doris Jean LARSON, daughter of Clifford Joseph LARSON and Helen Marie SPIEL, on 19 Jun 1948 in Dewey County, South Dakota, USA.¹ (Doris Jean LARSON was born on 30 Apr 1927 in South Dakota, USA and died on 17 Nov 1996 in Dewey County, South Dakota, USA ².)
