• Obituary: Lanesboro Leader, 1936, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA. 27 Feb 1936
John P. Johnson was born May 27, 1858 in Fillmore county. In 1893 he was joined in marriage to Miss Betsy Erickson of the Whalan vicinity. During the first part of their marriage they lived at Forrest City, Ia., and later spent several years at Ulen, Minn. Since coming here in 1900 this has alwasy been his home. Mr. Johnson had been in poor health for many years suffering with diabetes. Since the passing of his wife on Nov. 6, 1933 he gradually grew worse and for the past weeks he suffered intense pain caused by the infection in his foot. He was taken to the Lanesboro Hospital last Sunday Feb. 16 where he passed away Friday night Feb. 21 at the age of 77 years. The funeral was held from the Whalan Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He leaves to mourn his passing one son Temmen and two daughters (Cora) Mrs. Bennie Eithun and (Jessie) Mrs. Carl Syvertson all of Whalan and eleven grandchildren. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the surviving families.
