Logging Train Collision In Washington Kills One
EATONVILLE, Wash,. Aug. 30 (AP) -- a brakeman was killed and conductor injured early today when a westbound Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific logging train plowed into the rear of another freight train at nearby New Reliance, at the foot of Mr. Rainier.
Melburn Sandvold, 44, was killed, and Thomas H. Ruckman, 47, received back and leg injuries. The victims were occupants of a caboose on the first train.

EATONVILLE, Wash,. Aug. 30 (AP) -- a brakeman was killed and conductor injured early today when a westbound Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific logging train plowed into the rear of another freight train at nearby New Reliance, at the foot of Mr. Rainier.
Melburn Sandvold, 44, was killed, and Thomas H. Ruckman, 47, received back and leg injuries. The victims were occupants of a caboose which was demolished when the engine drove into the first train, which was making up.
Superintendent Lawrence Wylie said a wrecker was dispatched to the scene and that the track was to be cleared by noon.
