Services Held for Amos H. Worra
Funeral services were held Friday at the Holmes Lutheran Church for Amos H. Worra, 75, who died Wednesday, June 21 at the Clarion Memorial hospital. Pastor R. Larson officiated. A few remarks were also made by Rev. Henry Norem of Lanesboro, Minn., a friend of many years. Mrs. Charles Gangestad was the organist. Pallbearers were Harlan Johnson of Sheffield, Ervin Johnson of Belmond, James Johnson of Eagle Grove, Noah Hovick of Sioux Rapids, James Stroup of Holmes and Anton Anderson of Clarion. The Eyler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and interment was at the Holmes cemetery.
Amos Herman Worra was born April 9, 1892 to Anna Serena and Hellick Worra at Holmes. There were ten children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Holmes Lutheran church. In 1915 he married Ruby Weeks. He was in the general merchandise business in Holmes from 1916 to 1934. In 1936 they moved to their farm at Osceola, Iowa. In 1951 they sold their farm and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was employed as a clerk in a hardware store until April 1967. He moved to Clarion to retire. He entered the hospital about three weeks ago and died Wednesday morning, June 21.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, and two children, Phyllis Jean of Wheaton, Ill., and Bernard Willis of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Hovick, Washington, D. C., and Miss Esther Worra of Clarion.
