Dorothy Frances (Zawacki) Haslerud age 76, of 4500 Cambridge St. died Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Lakeshore Lutheran Home.
She was born in Superior, WI on April 19, 1926; the daughter of Marion and Jennie Zawacki. She graduated from Superior Cathedral High School in 1944. She was employed by St. Mary's Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital as well as Lakeside Elementary School; retiring in 1988. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Glen Avon Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the P.T.A. of Endion Elementary School, past secretary at the Portman Senior Center. She was also a member of First Lutheran Church. Her many interests included cooking, crafts, as well as being a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins, and lending a helping hand to her many friends and neighbors. Dorothy's grandchildren were most special to her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Edmund, John, Chester; two sisters; Helen Dann and Elizabeth Zawacki as well as her son; Glenn, Jr.
She is survived by three sons; Charles A. (Barbara) of Duluth, Mark P. (Bernelle) of Superior, Laurence F. (Carolyn) of Bloomington; three daughters; Marian E. Haslerud of Minneapolis, Barbara A. Haslerud of Madison, WI, and Robin L. Wigchers of Superior; former husband and friend; Glenn Haslerud of Englewood, FL, sister; Alice Johnson, Little Canada, MN. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Heather Haslerud, Kathryn Haslerud, Alysa Haslerud, Chet Haslerud, Jessica Nelson and Patrick Nelson; also her special neighborhood grandchildren; Dylan and Kelsey Mills; sister-in-law Lillian Zawacki, South St. Paul and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION:Will be one hour prior to the 1 PM Service Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at First Lutheran Church; 1102 E. Superior St., Duluth. Luncheon to follow at the Church. Memorials are preferred to Lakeshore Lutheran Home.
