Corrine Margaret Olness, 79, of Winona, MN passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, WI.
Corrine Boyum was born July 13, 1923, in rural Utica, MN to Martin and Cora (Swiggum) Boyum. After graduating from Peterson High School, she attended Winona State University and graduated from Winona Secretarial School and Lutheran Bible Institute, Minneapolis, MN. She married Sibert Maynard Olness on June 20, 1945 at Arendahl Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, MN.
Corrine enjoyed music, flowers, bird-watching, and entertaining for family and friends. Most dear to her was the time spent with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Sweet Adeline Chorus for several years and enjoyed her special friendships. Corrine did daycare in her home for over thirty years and truly loved being "Grandma" to all the children. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Winona.
She is survived by her three children, Bonnie (Robert) Simonet of St. Paul, Susan Frosch of Winona and James of Roseville; five grandchildren, David and Ryan Simonet of St. Paul and Peter, Andrew and Elizabeth Frosch of Winona; two brothers, Bertram Boyum of Rushford and Karrol (Olive Ann) Boyum of Rushford and one sister Edith (Russ) Sawyer of Fort Collins, CO.
Corrine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maynard, a sister Ardith , a brother Chester and a son-in-law Mark Frosch.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 21, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Central Lutheran Church, Winona with Rev. Scott Olson, officiating. Interment will be at Arendahl Lutheran Cemetery, rural Peterson, MN.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona and at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. A prayer service will be Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Arendahl Lutheran Church, Central Lutheran Church Building Fund or Lake Winona Manor.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.
