HOUSTON, MINN. - Minerva L. Thompson, 92, of Houston, Minn. died on Thursday, May 31, at the Golden Living Care Center in La Crescent, Minn.
Minerva was born on June 18, 1919, in Highland, Minn. to Selmer and Mary (Gullickson) Topness. She was raised in Highland and attended Highland School. On October 12, 1938, she married Arnold Thompson. The couple lived in La Crosse, Wis. for several years. Arnold and Minerva moved to Highland where they farmed for many years. They then moved to the Houston area where Minerva lived until four years ago when she moved to the nursing home in La Crescent. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston and it's auxiliary. Minerva enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and working along-side her husband on the farm. She worked at Rush Products in Rushford for many years.
Minerva is survived by her children: Tony (Judith) of Tennessee, Donna (Richard) Benson of Mabel, Julie (Jim) Thompson-Hakes of Brownsville; Alda (Stephen) Thompson - Korte of Bismarck, ND, and Kevin (Jen) of Detroit Lakes; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Isabelle Johnson of Rushford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: Leonard, Clarence and Sidney.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Houston and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Whalan Lutheran Cemetery in Whalan, Minn.
