• Reference: Roscoe Congregation in Colman, 1878, Moody County, SD. The Roscoe congregation was organized under the leadership of Rev. O. O. Sando on November 10, 1878. The first secretary elected was John H. Neperud, and the first trustees Gjaert Hanson, Andreas Larson, and Ole Paulson. The constitution was signed on December 10, by the following: John I. Dahl, John H. Neperud, Gjaert Hanson, Andreas Larson, Nils Ingvalson, Ole Paulson, Peter Hagen, Lars Fredrikson, Martin Martinson, Gilbert Hanson, Hans Larson, John Nustad, Ole Slette, and John A. Neperud. Johannes Dahl, Karl Gulbranson, Anders Moseson, Jorgen Williamson, Niels Nielson, Andreas Gullickson, Gustav Gullickson, Thor Gulbranson, Peder Tansemb, John Ellingson, and Knud Severson signed later. At this meeting it was also decided to affiliate with the Norwegian Synod, and to call a pastor together with the other Norwegian Evangelical congregations in Moody County. Rev. J. A. Blilie was called, and began his long service in the fall of 1880. He came to Flandreau September 17, and held his first service in Roscoe October 10, in a schoolhouse near the home of John A. Neperud. His salary was to be $100 a year from Roscoe, later reduced when the congregation divided.
