• Obituary, 1916, Fillmore County, MN. Andrew Olness, a young and progressive farmer of Arendahl, passed away Sunday after a short illness; the immediate cause of his death being due to aploplexy [apoplexy]. Mr. Olness was about 45 years old. His wife who was Miss Julia Bakken and four children, survive him. Funeral services are being held today. Mr. Olness complained about a week ago that he was not feeling well and on Tuesday took to his bed. He condition soon became such that medical assistance proved of no avail.

Andrew Onless [Olness] aged 44 years died at his home on North Prairie, Sunday, March 12, after a short illness. Mrs. Olness had suffered a few days with a headache, and later suffered a stroke of appoplexy [sic], which caused his death.
Deceased was born on North Prairie and had always lived there. Seventeen years ago last October, he was married to Julia Bakke [Bakken]. To them were born four children, two boys and two girls. Besides the children and wife, an aged father [,] three brothers and two sisters are left to mourn his untimely death. The brothers are Albert of Peterson, Ole at home and Martin of Mr. Vernon, S. D. Anna and Bertha are the sisters. The funeral was held last Thursday from the Arendahl Hauges church, Rev. P. Ljostveit officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Arendahl. Cemetery.
Mr. Olness was an industrious worker, a kind husband and father and he will be sorely missed by the surviving relatives. He was always good natured and happy and had many friends.
