Will of Stephen Arnold, March Court 1794. In the name of God Amen, I Stephen Arnold of the County of Mercer being weake of body but of perfect mind and Memory do Constitute this my Last Will and Testament and in the first place I Recommend my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the Dust from whence it Came and as tuching my Worldly Goods I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jane Arnold the Tract of Land and plantation whereon I now Live and at her death to be Equally divided between my Sons Stephen Arnold and John Arnold I also give to my Son James Arnold Six Shillings and I give and bequeath to my daughters Sarah, Elizabeth and Jane Six Shillings Each and Also to my son Alexander Armstrong I give and bequeath three hundred and Seventy Acres of land part of a Tract of six hundred acres on the west side of Salt River, adjoining Lyon and Sharp and to my son Thomas Wilson I give and bequeath fifty acres part of the above tract of six hundred acres to lie ____ off on the Corner adjoining McGuyer(?) and Sharpe(?) and also to my Grand daughter Jenney Arnold daughter of Abegale I give one hundred and Seventy five Acres of land it being the ballance of the Above Tract of Six Hundred Acres the Said one hundred and Seventy-five acres to be sold, and the money arising from the Sail to be let out at Intrist for the benefit of the said Jenney Arnold untill She comes of age or Gets Married and all other property I may die possessed of I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jane Arnold to be disposed of as she may think proper. In witness where of I hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty Sixth day of December 1793. Know all men by these presents that we James Arnold John Arnold and Elizabeth Wilson of Franklin County and James Richy and Jane his wife of the County of Fayette and Alexander Armstrong and Abagal of the County of Mercer and Sarah Gibson of the County of Montgomery all the State of Kentucky heirs and representatives of Stephen Arnold Senr., deceased of the County of Franklin and State of Kentucky aforesaid have this day constituted and appointed David Templeton of the County of Rockbridge and State of Virginia to be our true and lawful attorney with full power and authority in Law and equity to make a good and sufficient conveyance in fee simple of to and for one hundred and fifty six acres of land lying and being in the said County of Rockbridge on Elk Creek a branch of James River being part of a Tract of Land containing two hundred and sixty acres which the said Stephen Arnold Deceased held by patent bearing date 11th day of July 1761 and also 44 acres of Land lying on the South side of the aforesaid 260 acres and joining the Same being part of an entry of 180 acres, to the Representatives of William McClure Deceased on their order and agreeably to a Power of Attorney from the said Stephen Arnold deceased to John Greenlee bearing date the 11th day of September 1781 Recorded in the County Court of Rockbridge which power we refer you for your Particular guide and Vesting our said Attorney with full Power to act and do in all matters and things respecting the said land sold. by the said Stephen Arnold dec and laying out and making this and conveyance agreeably to the Above mentioned Power to John Greenlee as fully and perfectly if we could if we were personally present and in lieu of all claim or claiming hereafter to be made by us Our heirs Exors or admors.
