• Will, 1806, Franklin County, KY. In the name of God Amen, I Jean Arnold having now a common portion of health and strong in memory calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing it was appointed on for all to die. First, of al do recommend my soul to God, who gave it and my body to the dust to be buried in a decent manner and my funeral expenses to be paid out of my estate. Item, I give to James Arnold son of Benjamin Arnold, ten pounds to be put to interest for him until he comes to age. Item, I give to Jenny Arnold, who is daughter to Abigal Arnold, my bed and its furniture. Also five pounds in cash to be laid out for her in good decent clothing. Item, I give to my son, John Arnold all the balance of my estate. I do hereby acknowledge and assign this to be my last will and testament and do ratify and confirm this and no other in witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this second day of November 1798.
