• Obituary: Redding Record Searchlight, 2012, Redding, Shasta County, CA. Edwin Justin Haslerud (1927 - 2012)
Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, Edwin Justin Haslerud entered eternal life with his heavenly Father on August 3, 2012. He fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. He was born August 25, 1927 to Edwin and Mable Haslerud in Minot, N. Dakota. His family moved to Fargo, N. Dakota where he attended school and , graduating at the age of 17, joined the Marines, serving until World War II ended. Upon his discharge he entered college at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a B.S. degree in Forestry.
In 1955 he married Jean Harrington and soon their family grew to include five children. For over 40 years Ed worked in the timber industry for Kimberly Clark, in Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin and later for Roseburg Forest Products in California. He considered it a blessing to be able to work in God's creation, enjoying the great outdoors. He was not a clock-watcher, but always stayed working until the job was finished before heading home for the evening. After he retired from Roseburg, he knew he would not be going to the "woods" as often so he brought the "woods" to him by planting several dozen redwoods in his back acre.
Ed is survived by Jean, his wife of 57 years, daughters Janet (Daniel) Bergen and Anita (Henry) Lennick and sons Mark, Glenn (Malinda) and Gary (Jennifer). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Kristin (Michael) Haswell, Lisa (Michael Perez), Thea, Alex, Justin, Connor, Carson and Ryan. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Helen Isaacson, Vella Gould, and Audrey Theissen and brothers-in-law John Gould and Delbert Harrington. Ed was a long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and served there in several areas. He was always concerned about educating the children in God's Word.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 10th at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be addressed to The Good News Rescue Mission or The American Cancer Society . Please sign the guestbook at http://obituaries.redding.com
