• Obituary: The Herald (possibly), 1920, Fillmore County, MN. Saturday, March 20, 1920 OBITUARY
Ole A. Wethe, brief mention of whose death was made in The Herald two weeks ago, was born in Esberg, Norway, September 22, 1856. He came to America with his parents in 1869, coming first to Winona where the family remained a short time, later going to Rochester. He then went with his parents to Grand Meadow and was engaged in farming. In 1874 they came to Peterson where Mr. Wethe secured work in the flour mill. In 1877 he was married to Lina Olson at Jackson, this state. Four children were born to this union, two boys and two girls, namely: Caroline, Louise, John and Albert. Albert died when six months old, Louise when six years old. John Wethe died October 10, 1905, and Mathilda (Mrs. Frank Hill) died at her home at Tama, Iowa five years ago.
Mr. Wethe was well-known in this community, and was highly respected by everyone, having lived in Peterson practically all the time since coming to America. About five years ago he came back from North Dakota where he lived on a claim for some time. He spent some time with his daughter, Mrs. Hill, at Tama, Iowa, and since her death had made his home with his sister, Mrs. T. R. Benson. His wife died Feb. 8, 1886.
He is survived by four sisters and one brother, Mrs. T. R. Benson, Mrs. G. P. Haslerud, Miss Thea Wethe, all of Peterson, Mrs. H.O. Moen of La Crosse, and Charley of Austin. Besides these Mr. Frank Hill and son of Tama, Iowa, were here in attendance at the funeral, which was held March 5, 1920 from the Hauges church in Peterson, Rev. 0. M. Saevig officiating.
Several weeks before his death Mr. Wethe was taken suddenly ill and upon the advice of the local attending physician he was taken to La Crosse where he could secure hospital care. He lived only a week after reaching there, the end coming on Monday afternoon, March 1. The sister, Mrs H.O. Moen, and her husband were at. his bedside almost continuously while. at the hospital.
Deceased was of 9 quiet disposition, and was kind-hearted and generous. He is missed by his relatives and these have the sympathy of everyone in their sorrow.
Ole married Lena Olsdatter HOLTER in 1877 in Jackson County, MN. (Lena Olsdatter HOLTER was born in 1854 in Norway and died on 8 Feb 1886 in Jackson County, MN 6.)
