• Obituary, 1953, Fillmore County, MN. Thomas R. Benson 89 dies in Whalan. 1953 Whalan. Thomas R. Benson Whalan's oldest resident died at his home here Saturday. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Benson was born Feb. 9, 1863 near Rushford and married Minnie Wethe, Nov 28, 1890. The couple celebrated their sixty second wedding anniversary the day before his death.

Surviving are his wife and three children. Leland of Whalan, Miss Millie Benson of Lanesboro and Mrs. Byron Tebay of Peterson; a brother Edward of Superior, WI ; and three grandchildren.
