• Obituary: The Rochester News-Sentinel, 1956, Fulton County, Indiana, USA. Edith Carlson Rochester friends were shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Gilman T. [Edith] CARLSON, of R.R. 6, Rochester, which occurred at 10 a.m. today in the Wesley Memorial Clinic, 3202 North Meridian street, Indianapolis. Mrs. Carlson underwent surgery on March 1. She had been in failing health for the past year.
She was employed several years as a teacher of music in the schools of this vicinity and was director of the Rochester Christian Church choir. Mrs. Carlson was also active in many other organizations throughout the county. She had been a resident of this commnity for 15 years, coming here from near Graymount, Ill.
She was born Sept. 4, 1904 at Flanagan, Ill. to John and Anna (STRETCH) LINNEMAN, now of 1029 Main street, this city. On Aug. 4, 1929, she was married to Gilman T. CARLSON at Flanagan, Ill. Mrs. Carlson was a member of the Rochester Christian church.
Survivors are the husband, at home; three sons, John Gilman and James [CARLSON], at home, and Richard Lynn [CARLSON] in the U. S. Marine Corps, California; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara JONES, Indianapolis; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John LINNEMAN; a sister, Mrs. Martin E. (Mary Louise) NORDBERG, Corning, N.Y., and two nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Carlson has been removed to the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home where final arrangements are pending. ----- Published in The Rochester News-Sentinel Wednesday, March 7, 1956
Edith Carlson Funeral services for Mrs. Gilman T. [Edith] CARLSON, 49, who died Tuesday morning at Indianapolis, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian church. The Rev. James KIMSEY, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
The name of a surviving brother, John Albert LINNEMAN, Dayton, O., was omitted in the report of her death. Mrs. Carlson was a graduate of Northwestern University.
Friends may call at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
