Lawrence Irvin NORDGAARD

   Cause of his death was stomach cancer.

   Other names for Lawrence were Irvin NORDGAARD and Irvin Lawrence NORDGAARD.

  Noted events in his life were:

• Residence: The Shack, 1940, Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA. Gerhard Tollefson EIKEN built the shack, likely when Clifford and Ione (EIKEN) LARSON moved to the Choice House. It was a one room shack with a wood burning stove. It was originally located at the Engleson place about a 1/2 mile up the valley. This is were Johanna Nordgaard, Gerhard's wife's mother lived. Irvin must have bought the shack just after Gerhard died on 25 Jan. 1940.

Prior to that Irvin lived in a brooder house, like the one across the road from the garage, on the far south woods south of the Nordgaard farm house. He raised turkeys. Later he lived north of Rushford with another bachelor where they raised turkeys and Irvin had bees.

• Pets: Pete, Airedales, 1930, Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, USA. Irvin owned a series of Airedales (terrier dog), all which he named "Pete".

The first Pete I know of was in the late 1930s. There is a picture of me, Irvin, Cy and Pete. I remember the picture being taken because I had a sucker and Pete was digging a hole, across the river by the rocks, and Pete got dirt on my sucker. His nickname, in Norwegian, was "drett sekk", which means "shit sack". He seemed to respond better to Norwegian than English. [Bruce Larson, 2006]
