OBITUARY
Peder Christian Rierson, a pioneer citizen of Story county, died at his home southeast of Roland last Thursday from the infirmities of old age, having attained the ripe old age of ninety years, then months, and six days. He was born in Norway, Europe on the 12th day of October, 1826. The years of his youth were spent in the land of his birth. He came to this country in the year 1857, settling on a farm in LaSalle county, Illinois. That same year, he was married to Miss Gurina Danielson. They came to Iowa in the year 1867, coming directly to Story county where they located on the farm where he has since lived. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rierson, all of whom survive him. They are Dan of Radcliffe, Lewis of Nevada, Richard of Wilmar, Minn., Mrs. Mary Folgers of Des Moines, and Misses Anna and Enger, who have been making their home with their father. Besides his children, he leaves to mourn his loss, 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted from Bergens church by Rev. G. Smedal on Monday afternoon. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
