Gibson City (PNS)--Cecelia M Hawthorne, 62, died at 2:37 am Thursday at Gibson Community Hospital. Her funeral will be at 2"30 pm Saturday at Gibson City United Methodist Church, the Revs. James Bortell an Curtis Lindquist officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 6:30-9 tonight at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be at 8:30 pm.
She was born Oct 1, 1918, near Guthrie, a daughter of Lee and Lelah Cooper poplett. She married Donald M Anderson July 28, 1942 at Palmyra, Mo. He died June 11, 1967. She married Kenneth R Hawthorne Dec 9, 1972, in Gibson city. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Ann Scoggin, Virginia Beach, VA., and Sandra Lee Rollins, Lafayette, La; a son, Roger Don, Muscatine, Iowa; a stepdaughter, Suzanne Pitz, East Moline; two stepsons, Steven Hawthorne, Gibson city, an Sidney Hawthorne, Foosland; her stepfather, Carl Hedlund, Gibson City; three grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
She lived most of her life in the Gibson City area. She was a 1943 graduate of St Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Bloomington. She was a member of Gibson City United Methodist Church, the Faith Builders Sunday School Class and Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Worthy Matron in 1967 and 1980, a member of Southside Country Club and member of Untied Methodist Church and the Faith Builders Sunday school class.
